The present study describes a new set of 61 polymorphic microsatellite markers for beans and the construction of a genetic map using the BAT93 x Jalo EEP558 (BJ) population for the purpose of developing a reference linkage map for common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). The main objectives were to inte...

A development scale of the common bean plant, designed by CIAT, is presented in order to provide bean researchers and technicians with a standard and stable pattern to which observations and practices can be referred to. The scale is numeric and is based on the morphological characteristics that ...

Multiple co-infections by different pathogens on common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) affect its productivity and cause complete crop loss in susceptible varieties. Therefore, gene pyramiding using marker assisted selection (MAS) and backcrossing, provide alternative cost-effective control measu...

Genetic diversity of common beans is presented for subdivisions of Mesoamerican groups. Three subgroups were identified by means of molecular markers, such as proteins (phaseolin) and allozymes.
