Macroinvertebrates have been used for decades to evaluate water quality, using measures of diversity, biotic indexes and comparative analysis. The taxonomic level of family allows a general interpretation of the ecological quality of a fluvial system, and is possible to infer the quality of these...

The relative immobility of foam in porous media suppresses the formation of fingers during oil displacement leading to a more stable displacement which is desired in various processes such as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) or soil remediation practices. Various parameters may influence the efficienc...

The South American grey fox Lycalopex griseus is a canid widely distributed in southern South America; however, some aspects of its biology are still poorly known. We studied the diet and density of L. griseus in the Lago Penuelas Biosphere Reserve, in Central Chile. The trophic niche breadth was...

Lima apiculata (DC.) Burret, had a symmetric karyotype, with 2n = 22 small sized chromosomes, ranging between 2.2 mu m and 0.8 mu m. The haploid karyotype formula was 9m + 2sm = 11. These karyotype characteristics of L. apiculata are a common character within Myrtaceae.
